Exploring Twill: with color

Second level beginner’s course

The variety of twill weaves and color interactions.

This four session course uses Lunatic Fringe 5/2 ten color petite gamp kit, to create a colorful set of two kitchen towels or four napkins for your home.

Your twill gamp combines a variety of twill weaves - straight draw, point twill, M’s and W’s, goose-eye and rosepath - into one fabric. Exploration of color combined with twill creates a vibrant color study in twill for future project planning and use.

Instructional booklet covering all materials on twill weaves complements Jennifer’s “Beginning Weaving” booklet. Each napkin will take approximately one and a half hours to weave; kitchen towels will take approximately two and a half hours to weave.

Prerequisite: Know how to wind a warp and dress a loom. Previous instruction with Jennifer not required if you have the above two skills.

Course is either a four session course with abundant weaving time or a weekend intensive of two six-hour days.

Already have a portable loom? You are welcome to bring it to work on, both in studio and at home. Don’t have a loom? Use of a studio loom is included in registration fee.

Course cost: $225 for all supplies, booklet and personalized instruction (Lunatic Fringe yarn kit is a $95 value)

NOTE: At this time, all looms are for in-studio use only. Expanded studio hours will be made available to students enrolled in this course to allow for convenient times to finish the study. After the course has ended, you have two weeks to remove your project from the loom.
