Beginning Weaving:
Learn to weave on a multi-shaft loom
Table loom or floor loom (studio availability or bring your own!)
This introductory course will take you from 'what's a warp?' to creating a set of six mug rugs (coasters) and put you on the path of weaving all kinds of items.
Starting at the very beginning, this course walks you through all the steps to create cloth - from taking the yarn from the cone to producing cloth! Please plan on working outside of class to produce your set of mug rugs (coasters).
All materials and supplies, handouts and more provided in cost. In-studio loom rental available. Youth weavers will need an adult with them the entire course.
Flexible scheduling. Either a weekend intensive course (two 6 hour days) or a series of four 3 hour classes. Please plan on about 45 minutes to weave each of the six mug rugs.
Topics include discussions of loom types, yarns, hemstitching options, wet-finishing techniques, patterns (plain weave, plaids/stripes and basket weave derivatives) and so much more!
Course cost: $225 for all supplies, materials, booklet and personalized instruction
NOTE: At this time, all looms are for in-studio use only. Expanded studio hours will be made available to students enrolled in this course to allow for convenient times to finish the study. After the course has ended, you have 2 weeks to remove your project from the loom.
